Tech support for menopause

The optimistic part of me was delighted to read about new menopause support tech tools described in this BBC Business article by Suzanne Bearne, “The tech helping women manage the menopause.”

The cynical part of me nodded along with Dr. Phillipa Kay when she said, “But we do have to be cautious, as the menopause is trendy right now, and people have been making money out of women's health for a long time.”

And the world-weary part of me experienced a familiar feeling of disappointment when Andrea Berchowitz, co-founder of the menopause app Stella, pointed out that “tech in women's health is still mainly centred about fertility and period tracking.”

It’s always wonderful to see real progress. But I will never stop being disappointed by the fact that it’s 2023 and this is where we are.
